History and character
Château Angélus is a renowned name in Saint-Émilion, owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family for generations. Its name recalls the Angelus bells, which can be heard from the three nearby churches.
Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of the Dordogne, is one of Bordeaux's most famous appellations. Its medieval village and vineyards are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its wines are made primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The Saint-Émilion classification, established in 1955 and periodically reviewed, distinguishes Premier Grand Cru Classé and Grand Cru Classé. Level B is the second level of the Saint-Émilion classification.
