«Ours is a family project that involves several generations and is deeply rooted in the territory in which we are located: the Etna volcano.

We are characterized by tradition and innovation, rootedness together with passion and love for this primordial and never-the-same territory. Working with different soils and altitudes also allows us to shape different “personalities” while respecting the same common Etna identity.

Michele and Claudia is a project fueled by the Calabretta family's past (winemakers in Passopisciaro since the mid-1800s) along with a deep sense of respect for a fragile ecosystem where quality is intertwined with eco-sustainability. We feel we belong to these places and we are committed to producing our wines in a natural way (the grapes are certified organic, starting from the 2025 harvest the cellar will be too) and authentically respecting our tradition.

According to our philosophy, wine is the fruit of intense work done in the vineyard, with minimal work in the cellar. We want each wine to express the sense of place and the inner grace of the grape. Our wines are an expression of the native vines of Etna (Nerello Mascalese and Carricante) that we choose to vinify "in purity".

Our vineyards are located on the northern slope of Etna at different altitudes: 1.5 hectares in Contrada Pontale Palino at about 650 meters above sea level where we produce our "Etna Bianco", 1 hectare in "Contrada Feudo di Mezzo-Porcaria" at 750 meters above sea level where we produce our Etna Rosso and Contrada Rampante, a century-old vineyard of 0.7 hectares located at 980 meters above sea level where we produce our small production of "DiRampante" (only 300 bottles). Starting next year we also plan to produce an "Etna Bianco Superiore" from the vineyard we have in Milo (eastern slope of the Volcano) in Contrada Salice.

For us, wine is constantly evolving, we don't feel like we've finished our journey but there's one thing we'll never change and that's uncompromising quality."
