Château de Fleys is a family-run winery located in the heart of Chablis, in northern Burgundy. For four generations, the Philippon family has passionately produced high-quality white wines, an authentic expression of the Chardonnay grape and the unique terroir of this prestigious French appellation. The estate is located in the village of Fleys, a few kilometers from the town of Chablis, and extends over 20 hectares of south-east facing hills. The vineyards are rooted in Kimmeridgian soils rich in marine fossils, a fundamental component that gives the wines a distinct minerality, a hallmark of the Chablis style.
Château de Fleys' production includes Chablis AOC, Chablis Premier Cru Mont de Milieu, Chablis Premier Cru Les Fourneaux, and the Clos du Château, a monopole vineyard surrounded by the historic walls of the castle. All wines are made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, vinified with an approach that respects the identity of each parcel and the characteristics of the terroir. Chablis AOC stands out for its freshness, liveliness, and citrus notes accompanied by a marked mineral savoriness. The Premier Cru Mont de Milieu offers greater structure and complexity, with excellent aging potential in the bottle, while the Premier Cru Les Fourneaux expresses itself with elegance, balance, and aromatic finesse. The Clos du Château represents the most exclusive expression of the estate, a deep and intense wine from a historic walled vineyard. These wines pair perfectly with fish, shellfish, fresh cheeses, and gourmet cuisine.
The roots of the estate date back to the late 19th century when Julien Philippon settled in the Chablis area. In 1988, the family purchased the 17th-century castle and the adjacent walled vineyard, now known as Clos du Château. Currently, the company is led by Béatrice, Benoît, and Olivier Philippon, who combine traditional savoir-faire with a modern vision of viticulture to offer authentic and high-quality wines. Château de Fleys adopts sustainable agricultural practices and is HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certified, paying great attention to respecting the environment, biodiversity, and minimal intervention both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Vinification is precise and careful, using stainless steel or wood, natural fermentations, and aging on fine lees, in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the purest expression of the terroir.
