History and character

Château Calon-Ségur is a Troisième Cru Classé of Saint-Estèphe. Its label features a heart that recalls the words of the marquis de Ségur, who said that he had made wine at Lafite and Latour, but his heart was at Calon.

Saint-Estèphe is the northernmost of the Médoc communal appellations: its clay-rich soils produce structured, long-lived wines.

Troisième Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification, commissioned by Napoleon III for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
