History and character
Château Cheval Blanc is classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A in Saint-Émilion and is known for the significant presence of Cabernet Franc in its blend. Since 1998, it has been owned by Bernard Arnault and Albert Frère.
Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of the Dordogne, is one of Bordeaux's most famous appellations. Its medieval village and vineyards are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its wines are made primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The Saint-Émilion classification, established in 1955 and periodically reviewed, distinguishes between Premier Grand Cru Classé and Grand Cru Classé. Level A is the highest in the Saint-Émilion classification.
