Bodegas El Nido is a Spanish winery located in the Jumilla region, in southeastern Spain, an area characterized by a warm, arid climate and poor limestone soils that favor the production of highly concentrated and structured wines. The winery was founded in the early 2000s through the collaboration between the Gil Family Estates group and the Australian winemaker Chris Ringland, a prominent figure in the international wine scene.

The winery's most representative wine is El Nido, considered one of the great contemporary Spanish reds. It is produced mainly with Monastrell grapes, a native grape variety of the area, to which a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon is added. The grapes come from vineyards located at an altitude between 700 and 850 meters, a condition that allows for a balance between ripeness and freshness.

The winemaking process involves a very accurate selection of grapes and fermentation in small containers to preserve quality and concentration. The wine is then aged for about 24 months in French and American oak barriques, acquiring complexity and depth.

From a sensory perspective, El Nido presents a very intense and deep red color. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe black fruit such as blackberry and plum, accompanied by spicy notes, chocolate, vanilla, and light balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is powerful, rich, and structured, with soft tannins and a very long finish.

It is an ideal wine to pair with red meats, game, and aged cheeses. Thanks to its quality and limited production, it is often considered an iconic wine of the Jumilla appellation and has received important international critical acclaim.
