Tommaso Bussola 's 2020 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a wine that perfectly embodies the power and sophistication of the Veronese tradition. It originates from the hills of Negrar, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region , where the Bussola family cultivates its vineyards with dedication and profound respect for the land. Here, the volcanic soils, rich in limestone and basalt, and the vineyards' optimal exposure yield grapes of extraordinary concentration and aromatic complexity.

The appellation's signature varietals— Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella —are hand-picked and carefully selected. The finest bunches are then left to dry for several months in a drying room, according to tradition, to lose some of their water and concentrate their aromas, sugars, and structure. Only then does the slow fermentation begin, followed by a lengthy aging in wood that can last over two years. Each stage is handled with artisanal attention, preserving the fruit's essence and natural elegance.

In the glass, the 2019 Amarone displays a deep ruby red color with garnet highlights. The bouquet is expansive and seductive, with notes of brandied cherries, ripe plums, dried figs, and cocoa, enriched with hints of sweet tobacco, vanilla, and oriental spices. On the palate, it reveals structure and warmth, with soft, velvety tannins supporting a robust yet perfectly balanced body. The finish is extremely long, with hints of red fruit, dark chocolate, and licorice.

The 2019 vintage stands out for its balance and aromatic precision: a highly elegant Amarone, powerful yet never overbearing, combining intensity and finesse in perfect harmony. It's a wine that can be enjoyed today, but will evolve magnificently over the next ten to fifteen years, revealing new nuances of complexity.

Perfect with rich red meats, braised meats, game, and mature cheeses, but also as a meditation wine, to be savored slowly. Every sip speaks of the dedication and sensitivity of Tommaso Bussola , an authentic interpreter of Valpolicella and guardian of a tradition that continues to excite, harvest after harvest.

Winemaking technique:
The grapes for our Amarone Classico are selected in mid-September, placed in small plastic crates, and taken to the drying room, where they dry naturally for four months. In January, the grapes are carefully selected and pressed in special fermentation tanks where, after about 15 days of maceration, fermentation is triggered with selected yeasts.
Over the next 50 days, frequent pumping over and numerous delestages are performed to submerge the skins. The wine is then drawn off and transferred to a steel tank to decant the coarsest lees. After about 20 days, it is racked and transferred to wood where it completes its fermentation and maturation.
