Tommaso Bussola's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva 2013 represents the winery's pinnacle, a wine that combines elegance, structure, and complexity, the fruit of meticulous selection of the finest grapes and careful winemaking that respects tradition. It originates from the hills of Valpolicella Classica, where the basalt- and limestone-rich soils and optimal exposure give the grapes intensity, aromatic concentration, and a natural elegance.
The grapes, primarily Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, are hand-picked and left to dry in the drying room for months, concentrating sugars, aromas, and structure. Slow fermentation and extensive aging in select wood allow the wine to develop complexity and depth, with soft tannins and a perfect balance between power and finesse. The 2013 Riserva was then further refined in bottle, reaching an ideal maturity that expresses the full richness of the terroir and the harvest.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red with garnet highlights and a broad, enveloping bouquet, with notes of brandied cherries, ripe plums, jammy red fruits, cocoa, sweet spices, and a light balsamic hint. On the palate, it is full and harmonious, with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish that elegantly complements every sip.
The 2013 vintage gives the wine an extraordinary balance between power and finesse, making it ideal for drinking today or for further aging. It pairs beautifully with rich red meats, braised meats, game, and aged cheeses, but is also ideal as a meditation wine.
The 2013 Amarone Riserva is a wine that expresses the passion and mastery of Tommaso Bussola, a true ambassador of Valpolicella Classica, capable of conveying the history and elegance of a unique territory in every glass.

Winemaking technique:
The grapes for the production of our Amarone Classico “Vigneto Alto” are selected in mid-September, placed in small wooden crates and taken to the fruit cellar where they remain for 4 months to dry naturally.
In January, the grapes are carefully selected and pressed in special conical oak vats where, after approximately 15 days of maceration, fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts. Over the next 60 days, frequent pumping over and manual punching down of the cap are carried out to submerge the skins. The wine is then drawn off and transferred to stainless steel tanks to decant the coarsest lees. After approximately 20 days, it is racked and transferred to wood vats where it completes fermentation and maturation.
Refinement:
90 months of refinement of which:
40 months in new 2.25 hl barriques
Blended for a further 50 months in a large 25 Hl barrel
