History and character

Château Calon-Ségur is a Troisième Cru Classé of Saint-Estèphe. Its heart on the label recalls the phrase of the marquis de Ségur, who said he had made wine at Lafite and Latour, but had his heart at Calon.

Saint-Estèphe is the northernmost of the Médoc communal appellations: the clay-rich soils produce structured wines with long life.

Troisième Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification, commissioned by Napoleon III for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
