Les Annereaux Bordeaux

2020

13% vol

80% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot

Bordeaux organic AOC

Viticulture: organic farming

Ripe fruit with hints of leaf and menthol. Dense plum and cherry flavors, silky smooth, with potential for improvement in bottle.

A plot of land crosses the boundary of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation in a place called l'Âne Mort where this Bordeaux is produced, surprising for its substance and roundness, whose personality comes from the right proportion (20%) of Petit Verdot it contains.

This is a superb Bordeaux from Château des Annereaux: this 2020 is smooth, delicious and very good. A great introduction to the wines of the estate. Château des Annereaux, an organic wine in Lalande-de-Pomerol, has a long and rich history that dates back to the 14th century. Since then, descendants of the Annereau family have exploited the lands of their ancestors from generation to generation, and to this day without interruption. Château des Annereaux has been in organic conversion since 2007 and obtained certification in 2010. The great wine produced in the AOC Lanlande de Pomerol is of rare elegance and beautiful balance, qualities often lost in Bordeaux in recent years.

Reviews

Anthony Gismondi on Wine ( link ):
"Made of 91% merlot with a mere 9% petit verdot, this certified organic wine starts off with a touch of volatility followed by ripe red and dark fruits dusted with dried herbs and mineral undertones. The fruits, framed by lively acidity and rustic tannins, feel richer and riper on the palate. Not a purely fruity style, it shows a pleasant savory earthiness that can appeal to those who enjoy and appreciate organic wines."
