History and character

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Deuxième Cru Classé of Saint-Julien. The name recalls the beautiful pebbles ('beaux cailloux') that cover its vineyards; the estate has been owned by the Borie family since 1941.

Saint-Julien is a small Médoc appellation which, although it has no Premier Cru, boasts numerous Deuxièmes Crus and wines known for their balance of power and elegance.

Deuxième Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification, commissioned by Napoleon III for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
