History and character
Château Figeac, in Saint-Émilion, is known for the strong presence of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in its blends, which is unusual for the area.
Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of the Dordogne, is one of Bordeaux's most famous appellations. Its medieval village and vineyards are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its wines are made primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The Saint-Émilion classification, established in 1955 and periodically reviewed, distinguishes Premier Grand Cru Classé and Grand Cru Classé. Level B is the second level of the Saint-Émilion classification.
