Château La Couspaude, a prestigious Grand Cru Classé, is located in the heart of Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux.
Owned by the Aubert family for over a century, the domaine represents a rich heritage and an uncompromising dedication to viticulture.

History
The origins of the estate date back to the Middle Ages, when it was known as "La Croix Paute", a reference point for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
In 1908, Prosper-Jean Robin purchased the property which, through marriage, became part of the Aubert family's possessions.
The family has been cultivating vineyards in Saint-Émilion since the mid-18th century, keeping traditional practices alive through the generations.

The Estate and the Terroir
Spread over 7 hectares, Château La Couspaude is located on the characteristic limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, completely enclosed by walls, a characteristic of the oldest vineyards in the region.
The soil is composed of a thin layer of clay-limestone over a subsoil of hard limestone, which ensures a natural regulation of water essential for the health of the vines.
This terroir offers optimal growing conditions, contributing to the exceptional quality of the wines produced.

Viticulture and Winemaking
The vineyard is planted with 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, with an average age of the vines of 50 years.
The harvest is done manually, ensuring an accurate selection of the grapes.
The vinification takes place in small stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by refinement in French oak barrels in underground cellars dug into the limestone rock.
This traditional approach, combined with modern techniques, results in wines of remarkable depth and character.

The Wines
The wines of Château La Couspaude are celebrated for their complexity and elegance.
The 2018 vintage stands out for its deep, bright color and complex nose of red fruit, enriched by toasted notes.
On the palate it is powerful and full, with a long finish: a rich wine that represents the estate's commitment to excellence.

Review :

Wine Enthusiast: Score: 94/100
"This wine, from vineyards located on the edge of the town of Saint-Émilion, is juicy and well-structured. Balanced tannins support a ripe blackcurrant fruitiness. An attractive smoky nose, resulting from the rich presence of Cabernet Franc in the blend, increases its complexity and density. It is recommended to taste it from 2026 onwards."
