Château Malaire Grande Cuvée Réserve 2016 is a red wine from the Médoc appellation, in the Bordeaux region, produced by Château Malaire and identified as Grande Cuvée Réserve to highlight a particular selection of grapes and greater care in aging. It is primarily made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, typical grape varieties of Bordeaux's Left Bank, grown on gravelly soils that favor structure, elegance, and aging potential.
The 2016 vintage was particularly favorable in Bordeaux, characterized by a climatic trend that allowed optimal grape ripening, ensuring aromatic concentration, balance, and mature tannins.
In the glass, it presents an intense and deep ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of ripe red and black fruits, such as blackcurrant and cherry, accompanied by light spicy notes, hints of undergrowth, and nuances derived from wood aging. On the palate, it is balanced and harmonious, with good structure, present but well-integrated tannins, and a persistent finish that recalls ripe fruit and a pleasant spicy note.
It is an enjoyable wine now, but capable of evolving for several more years in the bottle. It pairs perfectly with red meats, roasts, lamb, game, and aged cheeses, expressing the classic and elegant style of Médoc reds.
With 8 centuries of history, Château Ramafort has stood the test of time. Originally built as a medieval fortress to protect the northern Médoc peninsula, its strongholds have softened, transforming into a fairy-tale castle surrounded by beautifully tended vineyards.
