Sasso di Fata 2022 represents the second vintage of a new movement in Tuscan Cabernet. It's a clos-style wine, with grapes sourced from a small vineyard with specific subsoils, and therefore produced only in extremely small quantities. It's generally said that the wine produced at Sasso di Fata resembles the soft, floral, and textured wines of Margaux more than the fuller-bodied wines of Pauillac, the region traditionally associated with Tuscan Cabernet.
Distribution of this wine is limited due to the size of its production. A portion of the wine is sold by appointment.
Subsoils
Sasso di Fata Vineyard. 3.5 hectares of golden-colored flaky schist—the subsoil is somewhat galestro, but a particular iteration of that subsoil that has taken on a golden hue from the calcium in the soil. The topsoil is a thin, 20-cm layer of clayey loam filled with rock fragments and flakes.
Viticulture
Viticulture is biodynamic and certified organic. The goal is to produce healthy vines that contribute their energy to the formation of complex grapes. The vines are a mix of spurred cordon and Guyot. Yields per vine are extremely low, ranging from 20 to 35 hl per hectare.
Variety
The Sasso di Fata 2022 is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Petit Verdot (5%).

Tasting note
The nose is expressive and flowing, with notes of fresh fruit, flowers (rosebuds), and freshly crushed rose hips. The palate is dynamic and elegant, maintaining the floral notes of the nose but also opening with a fresh cassis. The balance with the oak is satisfying, and the finish reveals a saline schist and graphite note. It is a profound and pleasant wine that captures a true sense of its place of production.
