Terroir: Granitic and sandy soil on the surface on a sandstone subsoil.
Age of the vines: 35-50 years, depending on the plot.
Density: 10,000 vines/hectare.
Production: 60,000 bottles.
Harvest and vinification Manual harvest. Whole bunches. Carbonic maceration for 7 to 8 days.
Refinement: Refinement in stainless steel and cement tanks, filtration with diatomaceous earth without clarification.
Residual sugar: <2g/litre.
Alcohol content: 13%.
Tasting: This Beaujolais-Villages offers a beautiful garnet red color with light glossy reflections. It gives off elegant aromas of red fruits and wild flowers. On the palate it is perfectly balanced: the soft and fruity attack precedes a fleshy and greedy texture. The finish is powerfully aromatic, with a nice freshness.
Ideal temperature: 14°C /15°C.

Jean-Paul Dubost owns 8 hectares of Gamay planted in the yellow granite and blue clay of his home village of Lantignié, in the hills immediately west of Regnié and Morgon. His Beaujolais-Lantignié Rouge, with its dark, juicy red fruit and ample spice, offers much of the complexity of a Beaujolais cru in a much more modestly priced package. Jean-Paul employs a two-week full cluster semi-carbonic maceration in stainless steel, and the wine is bottled with a bare minimum of sulfur dioxide after spending most of the year in the tank.

It reveals beautiful aromas of red fruits on the nose accompanied by light touches of wildflowers. On the palate the attack is greedy, defined by red fruits such as cherry and strawberry. There is a good balance between the meaty texture and freshness of this wine, making it delicate and drinkable.

Reviews

James Suckle 90/100
"Earth and wild berries on the nose with a touch of peppercorns. Medium body with fine tannins. Round and creamy with a succulent character. Well-balanced with a flavorful finish. Drink now."
