Note

Jean-Paul Dubost owns 8 hectares of Gamay planted in the yellow granite and blue clay of his home village of Lantignié, in the hills immediately west of Regnié and Morgon. Its Beaujolais-Lantignié Chardonnay offers much of the complexity of a Bourgogne Chardonnay in a much more modestly priced package.

The site of origin of this Chardonnay, fermented and aged in a used stainless and oak barrels, is located on an old riverbed; the soils are dark and loamy and Dubost notes that it is harvested about two weeks after the reds.

In the glass it has a light straw gold tone with a light silvery tinge. Aromas of jasmine, ripe yellow apple, citrus, fresh cream and wet stones translate into crisp, medium-bodied flavors on the palate. Pair it with sole meunière or crab salad and enjoy Chardonnay at its brightest and liveliest.
