The Langhe Nebbiolo Il Crutin DOC is a delicate and juicy red wine, obtained from grapes grown and vinified by the Azienda Agricola Manzone Giovanni in Monforte d'Alba .

Il Crutin is a historic house in the heart of the Gramolere Additional Geographical Mention which has belonged to the Manzone family since 2001 .

In the Piedmontese dialect “ Crutin ” means a small cellar dug by hand into the rock where in the past food and wine were stored.
optimal temperature.
After the hand-harvested grapes, which take place in mid- to late October to ensure a noble ripening of the skins and seeds, we carry out spontaneous fermentations and a short maceration of 6/7 days to maintain a crisp fruit and a pleasant drinkability.
After the necessary refinement in barrels and steel tanks, the wine is bottled during the waning moon.

The first vintage produced was 2000.
Langhe Nebbiolo il Crutin DOC is released on the market approximately 18 months after the harvest, with a production of several thousand bottles.

📝 Description

"Il Crutin" is the youthful and immediate version of Giovanni Manzone's Nebbiolo. Produced from vineyards located on the same hills as Barolo, but with a more streamlined vinification process, it is a red that stands out for its elegance, pure fruit, and sincere character.

On the nose, it releases fresh and delicate aromas of cherry, raspberry, and violet, with light spicy and floral notes. On the palate, it is refined, with soft yet present tannins, good acidity, and a fresh and harmonious finish. An accessible yet never boring Nebbiolo, perfect for those who want to explore Piedmont's iconic grape without having to contend with the structure of a Barolo.
