Amarone Sciamano is born in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region , among the Veronese hills that for centuries have produced some of Italy's most prestigious wines. It is a wine that embodies the strength of tradition and the magic of a unique terroir, where a passion for the vine has been passed down through generations.
The territory
The Sciamano vineyards extend across calcareous and tuff soils, at altitudes ranging from 100 to 500 meters above sea level. The mild climate, influenced by Lake Garda, and the temperature variations between day and night favor balanced grape ripening and the concentration of aromas.
In this environment, an authentic Amarone is born, the result of respectful and attentive viticulture, which enhances the naturalness of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
The grapes and the drying process
In keeping with Valpolicella tradition, Amarone Sciamano is made primarily from Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes . After harvesting, the grapes are carefully selected and left to dry slowly for several months in well-ventilated rooms, where they lose some of their moisture and concentrate their sugars, aromas, and structure.
This natural and patient drying process is the heart of Amarone: it transforms the grapes into little pearls of sweetness and intensity, ready to give life to a deep and velvety wine.
Vinification and refinement
After pressing, fermentation occurs slowly, allowing for perfect extraction of color and aromas. This is followed by a long aging in oak barrels , where the wine matures and develops elegant notes of spice, cocoa, and vanilla, while maintaining the freshness and typical smoothness of classic Amarone.
Sensory profile
The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sciamano has a deep ruby red colour , tending towards garnet.
On the nose it expresses intense aromas of cherries in alcohol, dried plums, figs and dark chocolate , with delicate accents of sweet spices, tobacco and fine wood.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping , with soft tannins and a perfect balance of warmth, structure, and harmony. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with a return of ripe fruit and balsamic notes.
Pairings
An important wine like Amarone Sciamano pairs magnificently with:
-
braised or roasted red meats,
-
game,
-
aged cheeses,
-
mushroom or truffle-based dishes.
It can also be enjoyed on its own, as a meditation wine , to fully appreciate its complexity and depth.
Style and philosophy
Amarone Sciamano embodies the essence of the winery's production philosophy: tradition, balance, and authenticity . It's a wine that strives for finesse rather than excess; it expresses its terroir with sincerity, combining power and grace in perfect balance.
