Manzone Giovanni

Barolo Gramolere 2021

DOCG

75cl

From the Nebbiolo grapes grown and vinified by Manzone Giovanni in the Langhe, we obtain Barolo Gramolere DOCG , a warm, full-bodied and balanced red wine.
The grapes come entirely from a single vineyard, in the Gramolere Additional Geographical Indication (MGA ), located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba . The average age of the vines is about 35 years , and the steep slope of the hill makes manual work essential.

The vineyard from which Barolo Gramolere DOCG is produced faces south-southwest; the soil is sandy limestone and rich in stones and fossils.
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid/late October to ensure a noble ripening of the skins and seeds.

Spontaneous fermentations and slow macerations for periods of 30/40 days do not hasten the polyphenolic extraction, which occurs in the most delicate way possible, using soft spraying of the cap.
This is followed by approximately 3 years of aging in barrels and a few months of rest in concrete tanks, before bottling the wine during the waning moon.
The first vintage produced was 1971 .
Barolo Gramolere DOCG is released on the market approximately 5 years after the harvest with a production of several thousand bottles.

Drinking Window: 2027-2043
The 2021 Barolo Gramolere is deep, layered and super-expressive. Blood orange, cinnamon, star anise and cedar give 2021 a gorgeous, exotic aromatic flair. Plush and layered in the glass, with exceptional resonance, the Gramolere is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. The long, explosive finish invites a second taste, and then a third."

📝 Description

The Barolo "Gramolere" is the wine that epitomizes Giovanni Manzone 's philosophy: rigorous, elegant, and profoundly territorial. Made from a single historic vineyard located on steep slopes in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, this cru is known for its ability to produce wines with a remarkable balance between strength and finesse.

In the glass, "Gramolere" presents itself as complex and layered. The nose dominates with notes of ripe berries, dried rose petals, fine spices, and hints of graphite and damp earth. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a compact yet silky structure, firm tannins, and a freshness that sustains the sip until a long, enveloping finish.

A profound Barolo, reflecting the character of the most authentic Langa, designed to evolve magnificently over time.
