Cantina Tedeschi is a historic family winery with roots dating back to 1630 , located in the heart of Valpolicella Classica , in Pedemonte di San Pietro in Cariano, in the province of Verona. The Tedeschi family has always had a strong connection with the territory, believing in the potential of hillside vineyards and the value of native varieties such as Corvina , Corvinone , and Rondinella .
In the 1960s, thanks to Lorenzo Tedeschi, the winery took a modern turn: Lorenzo recognized the extraordinary potential of the Monte Olmi vineyard, purchased by the family in 1918, and decided to vinify its grapes separately. From this foresight came the celebrated Amarone “Capitel Monte Olmi,” which became a symbol for the winery and for the entire Valpolicella region.
Tedeschi's vineyards are located on hillsides and calcareous soils, with a strong focus on sustainable practices. Meticulous agronomic management involves careful consideration of exposure, altitude, soil, and varietal characteristics, ensuring the terroir's unique character is captured in the bottle.
In the cellar, Tedeschi has developed a controlled appassimento process: the grapes are dried in a technological drying room, where temperature, ventilation, and humidity are precisely monitored. After the appassimento period, pressing is followed by a long maceration and then prolonged aging, both in barrique and bottle, to achieve complexity and longevity.
Tedeschi's wine portfolio is extensive: from classic Valpolicella and Valpolicella Superiore to Amarone cru riservas such as Monte Olmi , La Fabriseria , and Maternigo . These wines are appreciated for their balance between structure and finesse, between tradition and modernity.
The Tedeschi family is currently led by Lorenzo, along with his daughters Antonietta and Sabrina, and his son Riccardo. This generational transition has strengthened the company's focus on innovation, while never losing touch with tradition. The company constantly invests in research and development to improve the quality of its wines and the eco-sustainability of its production.
The winery also offers wine tourism experiences: you can take tours of the vineyards, visit the drying room and the barrel room, and taste up to seven wines during guided tours. A historical archive of bottles has also been created, reserved for collectors and enthusiasts, to explore the evolution of its vintage Amarones.
The Tedeschi brand represents the meeting between tradition and territory , with a recognizable style: elegant, structured wines, an authentic expression of Valpolicella, capable of both innovation and surprise.
